Limited Natural

Resources

Each year, a staggering 7 billion large trees are felled globally, spanning an area of 200,000 km2,

contributing to the depletion of this vital resource. The problem is exacerbated by illegal logging practices.

Two-thirds of logging activities in Indonesia are unauthorized.

Romania has witnessed the disappearance of 366,000 hectares of forest in the past two decades.

The recovery of shaved forests to their original state is a time-intensive process, spanning centuries. Given the current pace, projections suggest the extinction of all tropical forests within approximately 50 years.

Problem statement

A lot of people actually buy furniture pieces, without thinking about their specific needs first.

Even after buying consciously, after a few months or years people want to change the interior and get to throw away a lot of the old stuff.

This can cause wasting behavior and good furniture pieces are thrown away.

How could I solve this issue of constant need of new furniture?

Design Solution

Product Idea

the Hexagonal Shape allows for maximum use of space

with minimal material.

It is both space efficient and material conscious.

The functionality is attributed to the modular nature of the design,

The pieces can be stacked or combined

in various configurations to suit different needs and spaces.

The beauty is in the repetition of the hexagon,

a shape that is not only structurally sound but also aesthetically pleasing

due to its symmetry and prevalence in nature.

Individual units come together to form a larger, more complex structure.

The product encourages collaboration among its users,

possibly in a workspace or educational setting

 where group interaction is key.

Overall, this design idea promotes the concept of unity,

adaptability, and sustainability

key aspects that are also central to the life of bees in a hive.

Customization leads to less waste

The Modules ensure, that the user can customize and use the product how he/she wants to. therefore the need of new furniture is reduced and the environment can be protected.

you can also buy more parts, to personalize the product,

like buying a drawer or a seat etc.
